Blackk and One Cup 2025 Concludes Successfully in Ahmedabad as Mumbai Risers Win the Thrilling Finale

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], May 20: Ahmedabad recently witnessed a remarkable celebration of skill, sportsmanship, and team spirit as the Blackk & One Cup 2025, a premier open team badminton championship, concluded with great success on the 17th and 18th of May at the Blackk & One Badminton Academy, Thaltej. Organised by Blackk & One Sports Foundation in collaboration with the Gujarat Badminton Association, the tournament brought together seasoned and enthusiastic players across three combined age categories: 75+, 85+, and 95+.

Around 16 competitive teams from across the state participated in this high-energy event, which followed international tournament standards by using AS30 shuttlecocks to ensure top-quality gameplay.

In a gripping final match held on Sunday, Mumbai Risers faced off against Ahmedabad Rockstars. The contest was intense:

  • Ahmedabad Rockstars clinched the first game by a narrow 30-29 margin,
  • Mumbai Risers answered with a dominant 30-16 win in the second,
  • Ahmedabad Rockstars rebounded with a 30-19 victory in the third.

With an aggregate score of 78-76, Mumbai Risers emerged as the tournament champions.

This was a first-of-its-kind premium badminton tournament in Gujarat, offering record-breaking cash prizes:

  • Winner: ₹1,11,000 (Mumbai Risers)
  • 1st Runner-Up: ₹51,000 (Ahmedabad Rockstars)
  • 2nd Runner-Up: ₹25,000

The event welcomed players aged 30+ and 35+, with each team consisting of six members – one born on or before 1994 and five born on or before 1989. Once submitted, team compositions remained fixed throughout the tournament. Matches were decided at 29-all by the next rally, and the top 2 teams from each group advanced based on points and wins. Non-reporting or injuries led to a walkover with 30–0 scores awarded to opponents.

The Chief Guest, Dr. K. L. N. Rao (IPS), Director General of Prisons, Gujarat, graced the final match and lauded the event’s spirit. The tournament was hosted by Mr. Jitendra Yadav, Managing Director of Blackk & One Badminton Academy, who played a pivotal role in its organization and success.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Yadav remarked, “The objective behind the Blackk & One Cup was to inspire individuals to believe that there’s no age limit to play, perform, and win. At our academy, we proudly train both young players and senior athletes aged 50 and above, many of whom demonstrated exceptional performance during the tournament. The event stood as a testament to fitness, passion, and lifelong dedication to sport.”
