Tracy Chakma Brings Northeast Culture, Women Empowerment and a New Generation of Talent to the National Fashion Runway at Bharat Mandapam

New Delhi [India], September 3: Sony Entertainment Television’s Super Dancer Chapter 5 fame Tracy Chakma from Mizoram became a special highlight of Delhi Fashion Week 2026, walking as the Celebrity Showstopper for International Reinvent Northeast – Season 8 at ITPO, Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

Tracy made her appearance during the NEHHDC Special Show, where she walked in traditional attire representing the Chakma community. Her presence brought together fashion, cultural identity and the growing visibility of young talent from Northeast India on national platforms.

The presentation celebrated the spirit of Northeast Unity, while also connecting strongly with the Naari Shakti – Weaving Viksit Bharat theme of Delhi Fashion Week 2026, highlighting women empowerment, confidence and representation.

FROM SONY TV’S DANCE STAGE TO BHARAT MANDAPAM

Tracy Chakma gained national recognition through Sony Entertainment Television’s Super Dancer Chapter 5, bringing the talent and energy of Mizoram to audiences across India.

Her transition from a national television dance platform to one of the country’s major fashion stages reflects the expanding opportunities for Northeast talent across entertainment, fashion and the creative industries.

At Delhi Fashion Week, Tracy’s appearance offered a different expression of her identity. Rather than simply being a celebrity runway moment, her participation connected her personal journey with the broader cultural narrative of Northeast India.

Her confident walk at Bharat Mandapam demonstrated how young personalities can use national platforms to represent their communities while engaging with contemporary fashion and popular culture.

INTERNATIONAL REINVENT NORTHEAST – SEASON 8

International Reinvent Northeast – Season 8 was created as a dedicated platform to celebrate the cultural richness and creative potential of Northeast India.

The showcase brought together the region’s diverse traditions, indigenous heritage and contemporary creative expression, presenting the Northeast to a national audience from the heart of New Delhi.

Tracy’s appearance as Celebrity Showstopper became one of the defining moments of the presentation, reinforcing the idea that Northeast representation can take many forms — from handlooms and crafts to entertainment, fashion and young cultural ambassadors.

The showcase also highlighted the importance of creating platforms where communities from the Northeast can be represented with pride while becoming part of India’s evolving fashion and cultural landscape.

NORTHEAST UNITY ON ONE RUNWAY

The NEHHDC Special Show reflected the spirit of unity in diversity that defines Northeast India.

The region is home to numerous communities, traditions, textiles, languages and artistic practices. Bringing these identities together on a national runway creates an opportunity to showcase the Northeast not as a single cultural identity, but as a vibrant collection of communities united by heritage and creativity.

Tracy’s participation contributed to this larger message, demonstrating how a young face from Mizoram can become part of a national platform celebrating the wider Northeast.

NAARI SHAKTI – EMPOWERING THE NEXT GENERATION

Tracy’s participation also carried the message of Naari Shakti, celebrating women who are confidently stepping into national cultural and creative spaces.

As a young woman from Mizoram who has already appeared on a national television platform, Tracy represents a generation of Northeast women who are increasingly visible across entertainment, fashion, culture and entrepreneurship.

Her journey reflects how talent, determination and confidence can open doors beyond geographical boundaries.

The runway therefore became more than a fashion presentation. It became a statement about creating opportunities for young women to represent themselves, their communities and their aspirations on major national platforms.

SUPPORTED BY NEHHDC AND NORTHEAST COUNCIL

International Reinvent Northeast – Season 8 was supported and sponsored by the Northeast Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation (NEHHDC), with support from the Northeast Council (NEC), Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Government of India.

The presentation was organised by Delhi Fashion Club during Film Expo India, in association with NEHHDC, and managed/executed by VOY Media & Events.

The initiative aims to create greater visibility for Northeast India’s handlooms, handicrafts, designers, artisans, cultural talent and creative communities.

“Tracy represents the spirit of the new Northeast — young, talented, confident and proud of her roots. Her presence at Bharat Mandapam brought a very strong sense of identity and representation to the show. This is exactly what International Reinvent Northeast is about: celebrating diversity while bringing the Northeast together on one national platform.”

He added:

“The combination of Northeast Unity and Naari Shakti sends a powerful message. We want young women from the Northeast to see that their talent, culture and identity can take them to the biggest platforms in the country. Tracy is a wonderful example of that journey.”

DELHI FASHION WEEK 2026

The wider Delhi Fashion Week 2026, organised by Delhi Fashion Club during Film Expo India at Bharat Mandapam, brought together fashion, culture, handlooms, entertainment and women empowerment.

International Reinvent Northeast – Season 8 created a dedicated national spotlight for the creative and cultural wealth of Northeast India, while giving emerging talent an opportunity to share the stage with the wider fashion and entertainment industry.

A NEW CHAPTER FOR NORTHEAST REPRESENTATION

Tracy Chakma’s walk at Bharat Mandapam was more than a celebrity appearance. It represented the journey of a young artist from Mizoram stepping onto a national fashion platform and becoming part of a larger conversation around culture, unity and women empowerment.

Her journey from Super Dancer Chapter 5 to Delhi Fashion Week reflects the growing presence of Northeast talent in India’s mainstream creative industries.

The message from the runway was clear:

ONE NORTHEAST. MANY CULTURES. ONE NATIONAL STAGE.

CELEBRATING HERITAGE. EMPOWERING WOMEN. REINVENTING NORTHEAST INDIA FOR THE WORLD
