Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) [India], March 19: A meaningful step toward ecological restoration unfolded in the last week of February at a four-acre site in Coimbatore that was once used as a dumpyard and is now steadily transforming into a forest through the efforts of SankalpTaru.

Around 60 tech employees from NTT DATA stepped into the role of restoration volunteers, contributing to the ongoing work at the site. The initiative offered professionals an opportunity to engage directly with nature and restoration efforts on the ground. With native saplings gradually taking root, the area, once a dumpyard, is being transformed into a green space that will support biodiversity, improve soil health, and contribute to local ecological balance.

During the visit, the participating employees added their contribution to the restoration effort by planting saplings, strengthening the site’s growing green cover and reinforcing the shared responsibility of caring for the environment.

Priyanka Negi, COO, SankalpTaru Foundation, said, “We are grateful to NTT DATA for its environmental stewardship and for supporting the transformation of the dumpyard into a space of ecological restoration. We appreciate the team’s time, energy, and commitment to this shared environmental effort.”
