Meet Chhattisgarh First Women Thai Boxing Champion Ms. Tikeshwari Sahu

Tikeshwari, a shinning star in the horizon of state capital.

A true fighter in her early 20s has grown from the scratch to be recognised at the international level by winning a gold medal in World Thai Boxing Championship.

The sportswomen in discussion is Miss Tikeshwari Sahu who hails from a labourer family and having lost her father at an early age and mother managing the family by working as a labourer.

Even this adverse condition could not deter her to move forward in life and achieve her goal. After her basic education till Class III in Gyanodaya Vidya Mandir Rawatbhata and then till Class V in Kabir Adarsh Vidya Mandir Khamtarai Raipur, Tikeshwari took admission from Class VI in Shri Gujrati Higher Secondary School Devendra Nagar Raipur.

There was no looking back after that she went up to complete her graduation from Durga College Raipur and B.P.Ed from Vipra College Raipur.

While studying in Shri Gujrati Higher Secondary School, a turning point came in her life when her talent was recognised by the International Martial Arts Player and Coach Anis Memon who groomed her to be a shooting star at international level.

In her twenties and with practically no competition experience prior, Tikeshwari Sahu began her trek towards becoming one of India’s New Most Talented Mixed Martial Artists.

She spent some time competing in the regional circuit, winning the Silver medal for India in The Asia Cup Thai Boxing Title Championship(2016), participated in the World Thai Boxing Championship 2019 and winning Gold Medal for India in the biggest stage of World Thai Boxing Championship.

She is equally competent in Muay Thai sports and has not only represented her state but also India at the international level to fetch medals for the country.

Tikeshwari is a state level cricket player, owns a black belt in karate, diploma in yoga and an international referee of Thai Boxing. At international level she has won one gold and one silver medal while at the national level she bagged eight medals which include 05 gold, one silver and two bronze.

Tikeshwari is inspired by women MMA Legend & Hollywood Actress Ronda Rousey (American Professional Wrestler)and considers her as an idol of life. Recognizing her potential Tikeshwari has been inducted as a sports coach in Shri Gujrati Higher Secondary School Devendra Nagar Raipur from where she completed her Class XII on July 25, 2019.

She Gives all her credit of appointment to Vice President Of Shri Gujarati Shiksha sangh Jayanti Bhai Patel, Secretary Tulsidas Patel, Then Principal Mrs Illa Bhatt and not to forget recommendation of Martial art Coach and Present Principal Anis Memon. Not to mention Tikeshwari’s maternal uncle Devendra Sahu did a lot for the overall progress of his niece and first sent her coaching under Martial Art Coach Anis Memon.
