The organisation’s motto is to encourage filmmakers to create films based on social issues, raise awareness, and bring positive change to society.
The Iconic Bharat Gaurav Puraskar is awarded exclusively to filmmakers whose stories are inspiring and carry a strong social message. Each year, the winners are selected from the Top 100 Best Films of the Bharat International Film Festival, out of which 26 outstanding films are chosen for the IBGP award.
Apart from cinema, Priya Jaiswal, Managing Director of the Iconic Bharat Gaurav Puraskar, believes that the Puraskar should expand beyond films. Therefore, she has presented the Iconic Bharat Gaurav Puraskar 2025–26 to the Inspiring Stories of India—individuals who are actively working on social issues in their respective fields and who inspire and motivate society.”
