In a recent interview in Hyderabad; Advocate Nizam Ali Khan, Speaker of Islam, clarified an often misunderstood Islamic practice. He said that “many people, especially some part of politicians and the biased media, think that Islam allows followers to convert someone by force, which means pressurize and force someone to accept Islam without gaining a good knowledge of it. While clarifying this misconception, he said, “The teachings of Islam do not recognize forcing someone to convert to Islam. Even if a Muslim by birth does not follow the teachings of Islam, other Muslims cannot force him to follow them; they can simply ask him to do so. Khan also quoted an additional verse from the Muslim holy Quran; verse 256, chapter 2, says: “In religion there is no compulsion”; that means no one is forced to practice Islamic teachings or convert to Islam. There was strong opposition from Western Orientalists; they try to present Islamic teachings in a negative way. Khan also told of some events that happened in the time of the Prophet Mohammed, saying: “When Abu Talib, the uncle of the Prophet Mohammed, was dying on the knee of the Prophet Muhammad, the Prophet Mohammed requested him to accept Islam, Prophet Muhammad was able to force his uncle to accept Islam, but he did not force him and unfortunately he died without accepting Islam, other well-known incident of Prophet Mohammed visiting Taif, a city 100 kms away from Mecca, to request and invite people to accept Islam, however people in Taif abused and stoned Prophet Mohammed mercilessly, even then Prophet Mohammed requested them and did not force them to accept Islam, one more incident of Sumama, a Governor of Yamama, a city close to Medina, he was made captive in Mosque of the Prophet, he abused Prophet Mohammed, however Prophet Mohammed did not force him to accept Islam, on the 3rd day whilst he became launched free, he accepted Islam due to the manners of Prophet Mohammed, even on the time whilst Prophet Mohammed and his disciples conquered Mecca, neither he nor his disciples force the Non-Muslims of Mecca to accept Islam; hitherto, there are numerous incidents throughout the time of Prophet Mohammed had been he should have forced many people to just accept Islam, however he did not do so, due to the fact that Islamic teachings do not acknowledges it.
Khan in addition mentioned the Constitution of India, had been he quoted Article No. 25 which states, “We have freedom to exercise, hold forth and propagate our faith”, however it way that no Indian citizen can force others to just accept formers faith.
