Anantapuramu, June 17, 2026: In a significant step towards promoting responsible and ethical use of social media, Anantapuramu District Superintendent of Police Jagadeesh IPS formally unveiled the logo and awareness poster of SMAA (Social Media Association of Anantapuramu) at a special event held in the district.
SMAA is a first-of-its-kind, self-regulatory and non-commercial association spearheaded by renowned social activist and social media influencer A.G. Anil Kumar. The association has been formed with the objective of creating awareness among social media content creators and page administrators about the dos and don’ts of digital platforms, encouraging responsible content creation, ensuring compliance with legal and cyber laws, and collectively working towards social awareness and positive societal change.
Addressing the gathering, SP Jagadeesh IPS appreciated the initiative and commended the efforts behind the formation of the association. He noted that SMAA stands apart from conventional organizations as it has been established with a purely non-commercial vision focused on public awareness and community service.
The SP particularly welcomed the association’s unique structure, highlighting that SMAA does not have traditional positions such as President, Secretary, or Treasurer. Instead, every member functions as an equal volunteer working towards a common cause. He expressed confidence that such a collective approach would help channel the immense reach of social media towards constructive and socially beneficial activities.
Nearly 20 leading social media page administrators from across Anantapuramu district attended the launch event. Together, these pages represent a combined follower base of approximately 100 million followers across various digital platforms, making SMAA one of the largest collaborative social media initiatives in the region.
The association aims to conduct awareness campaigns on cyber safety, responsible social media usage, public welfare issues, environmental conservation, civic responsibility, road safety, and other matters of public interest. Members also pledged to promote fact-based content, discourage misinformation, and work within the legal framework governing digital communication.
Speaking on the occasion, A.G. Anil Kumar expressed his heartfelt gratitude to SP Jagadeesh IPS for his encouragement and support towards the initiative. He also conveyed special thanks to Cyber Crime Inspector Jakeer, who was present at the event and has been actively guiding social media stakeholders on responsible digital practices and cyber law awareness.
The launch marks the beginning of a new chapter in collaborative social media engagement in Anantapuramu, where influencers and page administrators have come together not for commercial gain, but to leverage their collective reach for social awareness, public service, and positive transformation in society.
