Mumbai Falcons Launch SoBo Mumbai Falcons and ‘One in a Billion Hunt – Agla Star’ Initiative to Build India’s Sporting Future

Mumbai, 2nd June, 2025 – After six years of dominance in the international motorsport arena, Mumbai Falcons Racing Limited proudly announces a landmark expansion into Indian cricket with the launch of its new franchise – SoBo Mumbai Falcons, in the MCA-hosted T20 Mumbai League. Alongside, the team unveils its flagship talent initiative: ‘Agla Star – One in a Billion Hunt ’, a first-of-its-kind national programme aimed at identifying and nurturing the next generation of world-class Indian athletes – on track and field.

Having made history as the first Indian team to win an FIAaccredited international championship, Mumbai Falcons has built a reputation not just for speed and precision, but also for
deeply investing in the long-term development of young sporting talent. Their impressive racing alumni includes names now synonymous with the future of Formula 1: Kimi Antonelli, Oliver Bearman, Arthur Leclerc, Rafael Camara, and Freddie Slater.

Most recently, the team won the Formula Regional Middle East Championship and finished runners-up in the Formula 4 Middle East Championship – further cementing their place on the global stage. But for Mumbai Falcons, the goal has always been greater than silverware.

“Every athlete dreams of reaching the top, of being the name on everyone’s lips. That journey starts early, and it requires more than just talent. It needs infrastructure, vision, and belief,” says a team spokesperson. “That’s what we’re building—across racing and cricket.”

Why Cricket, Why Now: From Race Tracks to Cricket Grounds

Mumbai Falcons’ foray into cricket is both a natural evolution and a strategic leap. With the purchase of the South Bombay franchise for ₹82 crores, the team is not just expanding its footprint—it is amplifying its philosophy. The ethos remains the same: identify talent early, invest deeply, and create an environment where excellence is inevitable. Cricket, being the heartbeat of Indian sport, offers a vibrant, high-visibility platform to showcase that belief system in action.

This launch is more than the reveal of a jersey or a team anthem —it’s the unveiling of a new kind of Indian sports institution, one where motorsport precision meets cricketing passion. The SoBo Mumbai Falcons represent a new generation of athletes, guided not just by flair and aggression, but also by science, data, and relentless preparation. The anthem, the jersey, and the squad are designed to echo this spirit—a symbol of performance rooted in purpose.

“We’re not here to be just another cricket team. We’re here to build something deeper, something more future-focused. The same dedication that built champions in racing is now being brought into cricket,” said the Mumbai Falcons leadership team.

From Karting to Cricket: Building Stars, Not Just Finding Them

While most grassroots programmes focus on identifying raw talent, the ‘Agla Star’ philosophy goes a step further. Mumbai Falcons is not just scouting; they are investing—fully and fearlessly—in young athletes who’ve already shown immense promise. Through dedicated training, performance benchmarking, and personalised support systems, these athletes are given the means to develop
themselves mentally, physically, and competitively.

The ‘Agla Star – One in a Billion Hunt’ is the embodiment of this vision. Backed by Mumbai Falcons’ well-established ecosystem in the UAE—including race-spec karts, European-grade
machinery, and expert mechanics—the initiative will travel across India to unearth and uplift young motorsport talent. The same ecosystem has supported the team’s operations in the Middle East and played a decisive role in their triumph at the Dubai O Plate, one of Asia’s premier karting competitions.

Notably, the programme aims to take these young drivers all the way—to Formula 1. This is not just ambition; it is precedent. Jehan Daruvala and Kush Maini, two of India’s top racing exports, raced for Mumbai Falcons in the 2021 Formula 3 Asian Championship, laying the groundwork for what the team believes will be a full-circle journey—from India to the world stage.

The Formula Medicine Tie-Up: Bringing Mental Efficiency to Cricket

In a move that unites the worlds of motorsport and cricket under a shared vision for performance, Mumbai Falcons has announced the integration of Formula Medicine, a globally renowned highperformance training organisation based in Italy.

Founded by Dr Riccardo Ceccarelli, Formula Medicine is celebrated for its pioneering approach to Neuropsychological Training, Mental Economy, and Neural Efficiency. It has worked with some of the most elite drivers and teams across Formula 1, MotoGP, and Olympic sport, helping athletes build sharper mental frameworks for decision-making under pressure.

Their collaboration with Mumbai Falcons was instrumental in the team’s success at the Dubai O Plate—training not just the drivers, but also the team managers and support staff in decision-making under fatigue and competitive stress.

“We don’t just train drivers to go faster. We train their brains to process faster,” said a Formula Medicine representative. “And that is equally applicable to any high-performance sport.”

Now, Formula Medicine’s philosophy is making its way into cricket. With Shreyas Iyer—the newly appointed captain of SoBo Mumbai Falcons—being a strong advocate of data-driven performance and mental agility, the team will explore how these tools can help batsmen, bowlers, and captains alike refine their focus, build pressure resilience, and respond faster under match conditions.

“In the past two years, data, mindset, and preparation have completely changed my game,” Iyer says. “What we’re doing with Formula Medicine has the potential to raise the ceiling for every Indian athlete—whether they’re on the track or the turf.”

A Vision for India’s Sporting Future

The acquisition of the SoBo franchise for ₹82 crores is not just a move into cricket—it is a strategic step toward a multi-sport future, one in which the Mumbai Falcons ecosystem becomes a
proving ground for elite Indian athletes.

“Whether it’s cricket, motorsport, or any other sport, every Indian deserves a shot at being great. We’re not just betting on potential —we’re building the path,” says the Mumbai Falcons
management team.

From podiums in Europe and the Middle East to the pitches of Mumbai, the Falcons are driving one message home: India’s next star is already out there. We’re just getting them ready.
