Dnyaan Prasad Global University (DPGU) Hosts Pune’s First-Ever Educational Leadership Roundtable on Plant-Based Nutrition and Sustainable Food Systems

Pune (Maharashtra) [India], June 25: Dnyaan Prasad Global University (DPGU) School of Hospitality and Tourism by Dr. D.Y. Patil Unitech Society hosted Pune’s first-ever educational leadership roundtable dedicated to advancing awareness of plant-based nutrition and sustainable food systems. Organized in collaboration with Humane World for Animals India and EduGrown, the event brought together principals, trustees, administrators, and decision-makers from more than 30 educational institutions across the region.

Dr. Somnath P. Patil, Pro Chancellor, Dnyaan Prasad Global University by Dr. D. Y. Patil Unitech Society, Pune, said, “Educational institutions play an important role in shaping both academic growth and the values and habits that students carry throughout their lives. As discussions about health, sustainability, and responsible living increase, it is crucial to create opportunities for meaningful dialogue and awareness. During the event, experts from Physicians Association for Nutrition (PAN) India addressed adolescent nutrition, balanced dietary planning, and the health benefits of plant-based eating. Along with this, there were also discussions on sustainable food systems, environmental impact, responsible consumption, and animal welfare.The roundtable brought together leaders of educational institutions, including Dr. D.Y. Patil Public School, Ashwini International School, Mastermind Global School, ICI School and The Orchid School, to explore the role of educational institutions in promoting healthier and more sustainable food choices.

Participants gained practical guidance on introducing plant-based meal options within institutions/schools and experienced a tasting session featuring a range of plant-based food alternatives.
