New Delhi [India], December 26: At the tender age of 13, Dhanush SriHaas Dharanikota embarked on a remarkable journey that set him apart as a leader with a mission to uplift the tribal communities in the Kothagudem district of Telangana. Dhanush aimed for a profound transformation of lives through dedication, analytical prowess, and an innate knack for fundraising.
A student at Oakridge International School, Gachibowli, Hyderabad, and the cherished son of International Corporate Lawyer Dr. Ddharanikota Ssuyodhan PhD and senior Fertility Consultant Dr. Hima Deepthi MS (OBG) ART (US), Dhanush’s altruistic pursuits were deeply influenced by his father’s charitable and service initiatives and the project-based learning and community activity service initiatives at his school – Oakridge International School – Newton Campus Gachibowli – Hyderabad.
The Vision: Promoting Tribal Education through Social Health Initiatives
Dhanush envisioned a substantial impact on tribal lives. He chose to focus on Kothagudem, an economically backward district lacking basic infrastructure. Partnering with the Indigenous Development Organisation (IDO), which specializes in education, health, and socio-economic upliftment, Dhanush identified and addressed the urgent needs of the tribal population. He is the first teenager to work in this tribal area.
Key Initiatives by Dhanush and IDO
1. Sports Equipment for Tribal Hamlets: With a fervent belief in the transformative power of sports, Dhanush distributed cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, and badminton kits to tribal children, enhancing their physical fitness and mental confidence. Overcoming language barriers with the help of an interpreter, he not only provided equipment but also imparted coaching.
2. Nutrition Powder for Children: Addressing malnutrition, Dhanush collaborated with IDO to distribute organic nutrition powder to children under fourteen, significantly improving their health and quality of life.
3. ECG Machine for the Tribal Hospital: Recognizing the dearth of healthcare facilities, Dhanush facilitated the acquisition of an ECG machine for the tribal hospital, enabling early detection and treatment of heart conditions. Over 300 residents benefitted, with nearly 100 lives saved due to timely interventions.
Fundraising and Execution: A Young Entrepreneur’s Tenacity
Dhanush’s relentless fundraising efforts showcased his entrepreneurial acumen. He sold organic honey to finance the project, raising Rs 20,000 for sports equipment, Rs 10,000 for nutrition powder, and Rs 50,000 for the ECG machine. His determination and strategic approach underscored his commitment to the cause.
Hands-On Impact: Compassion in Action
Dhanush’s involvement went beyond financial contributions. He personally traveled to Kothagudem, distributing supplies, coaching children, and engaging with the community. His hands-on approach demonstrated his empathy and dedication to the betterment of tribal lives.
The authorities at IDO and the tribal communities express profound gratitude for Dhanush’s unwavering support. Through sports, nutrition, and healthcare, he has brought about a tangible improvement in their lives. His story exemplifies that one does not need wealth or extensive experience to effect lasting change—vision and prompt action suffice.
Dhanush SriHaas Dharanikota’s exemplary leadership and compassionate spirit set a high bar for future generations. His initiative sows the seeds of growth and positivity in the Kothagudem tribal area, inspiring others to continue the journey of societal development.
May this be the first of many such impactful initiatives by Dhanush, heralding a brighter future for all.
