New Delhi, India – Young environmental advocate Mehr Dhawan is inspiring children to become everyday environmental champions through her youth-led initiative, Swachh Kal. By combining art, literature, storytelling, and hands-on environmental action, Mehr is making sustainability engaging, relatable, and meaningful for young people. Swachh kal Book is coming in 9 languages having reached 10,000 students in English and Hindi.
Built on the belief that every child can be a hero, Swachh Kal encourages children to adopt simple, lifelong habits that protect the planet. Rather than teaching sustainability as an abstract concept, the initiative gives children identities they proudly embrace—Hawa Hero (clean air), Pedh Rakshak (trees and biodiversity), Kachra Fighter (waste management), and Paani Protector (water conservation). Swachh Kal has reached across Sarvodaya Vidhyalayas, CRY, Anganwadi’s, Residential communities and is attracting many educational bodies.
Through creative writing, poetry, art, school campaigns, and experiential learning, Mehr demonstrates that environmental awareness becomes more powerful when it inspires behavioral change. Her vision is to make sustainability a daily habit rather than an annual campaign.
Swachh Kal is a unique youth-driven movement that resonates with children by empowering them to become active changemakers. Mehr envisions a future where every student is a Swachh Hero, leading environmental change through small, meaningful actions that collectively create a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable world. As Mehr says, Swachh Kal may be founded by me but belongs to everyone.
