Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 25: MukkaMaar, a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering young girls through awareness-building and empowerment self-defense training, is proud to announce that Surya Hospitals will be contributing towards the setting-up of essential sports equipment to support their flagship MukkaMaar Girls program. The contribution will benefit students at Poisar Hindi 2 BMC School and Mapkhan English High School, two institutions that have demonstrated strong support for MukkaMaar’s initiatives of wellbeing and empowerment of the girl child.

“This sports equipment contribution is a critical step in encouraging more girls to participate in physical activities, build their health and tap into their inner power,” said Ishita Sharma, Founder of MukkaMaar. “When girls have access to proper equipment, they’re more likely to engage actively in sports, which directly contributes to our mission of creating confident, courageous and resilient adolescent girls that live a life of their choosing, free from the burden of violence.”

Dr. Bhupendra Avasthi, (Managing Director and Chairman-Surya Hospitals), stated, “At Surya Hospitals, we believe in nurturing not just physical health but also mental well-being among children. This partnership with MukkaMaar aligns perfectly with our commitment to holistic child development. By providing essential sports equipment, we hope to contribute to the empowerment of young girls, helping them build strength, confidence, and resilience. When we invest in girls’ physical education and self-defense training today, we’re investing in a more equitable and safe society tomorrow.”

Dr. Bhuvan Dommeti  (Zonal Director-Surya Hospitals) “We think that the path to women’s empowerment begins early in life. This equipment contribution, coinciding with the culmination of Women’s Day celebrations, represents our commitment to nurturing the next generation of strong, confident women. We’re honored to support these young girls as they develop the skills that will serve them throughout their lives, and we look forward to witnessing their growth and achievements in the years to come.”

The MukkaMaar Girls program is a three-year intervention designed to help girls build confidence, courage, and resilience, while equipping them with the knowledge, skills and mindsets to confront violence. The event announcing the contributions coincides with the program’s Annual Fests, traditionally held around International Women’s Day, where MukkaMaar Girls demonstrate their learnings to the community.
