Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], April 3: The Republican Party of India (Athawale) held its National Executive Committee meeting today at Palmgrove Hotel in Chennai, under the leadership of RPI National President and Union Minister of State, Shri Ramdas Athawale ji. The meeting was attended by several prominent members of the party, including RPI National Secretary Dr Rajeev Menon.

During the meeting, Dr Menon addressed the media and announced the appointment of Shri Shivraj as the first President of RPI from Tamil Nadu, who was appointed by Babasaheb Dr Ambedkar. Dr Menon also highlighted Tamil Nadu’s significant share of vote banking for RPI and Ambedkarites, stating that the party plans to unite all Ambedkarite organizations and form a Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“We plan to contest in the coming 2024 Lok Sabha elections and are confident of winning some parts of Tamil Nadu,” said Dr Menon. “Recently, we won two Assembly seats in Nagaland, and we are planning to win 50 to 60 seats all over India in the coming Lok Sabha elections.”

The RPI’s plans to form a Mahagathbandhan with the BJP in Tamil Nadu could have significant implications for the state’s political landscape, as both parties have a substantial following among voters. With the RPI’s focus on uniting Ambedkarite organizations and the BJP’s national presence, this alliance could prove to be a formidable force in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
