Chandigarh Welcomes Electric Buses Under Chandigarh Transport Undertaking – PMI Electro Partnership

Chandigarh, 14 February 2026: In a step towards the expansion of electric public transport, PMI Electro, in collaboration with Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (“CTU”), flagged off 25 electric buses for the city of Chandigarh.

At an official ceremony held at CTU Depot, Sector 43 ISBT, Chandigarh, the 25 electric buses were flagged off in virtual presence of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. The event was also attended by the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest, the Hon’ble Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs and Power, Sh. Manohar Lal, as Guest of Honour. Senior officials from the Chandigarh Administration and Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) were also present.

The induction of these 25 electric buses adds to Chandigarh’s fleet under CTU and will support public transport operations on designated urban routes within the Union Territory of Chandigarh. The deployment is being undertaken under the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme of the Government of India, which supports the introduction of electric buses in cities to strengthen public transport systems. PMI Electro is supporting the implementation of this initiative through the supply of electric buses in accordance with the prescribed specifications and contractual arrangements.

These buses, designed and manufactured by PMI Electro, are built for urban operations and are equipped in accordance with applicable public transport specifications and safety requirements. The vehicles include accessibility provisions, and a low-floor design to facilitate boarding and alighting. The buses are powered by efficient battery systems suitable for intra-city operations and are configured to meet operational requirements specified by CTU.

Delhi, 8 February 2026: Last week in Delhi, PMI Electro participated in inauguration ceremonies marking the deployment of 9-Meter & 12-metre electric buses. The events were held in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta and senior officials from the relevant transport authorities and operating partners. As of date, more than 2,900 electric buses manufactured by PMI Electro have been deployed across multiple cities in India.
