Kochi, April 13, 2025 – The audio launch of the upcoming Malayalam film Cake Story, starring Dr. Rajeev Menon, National General Secretary of the Republican Party of India, was held in Kochi. The event was inaugurated by Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri Ramdas Athawale.
Cake Story is set for a grand theatrical release on April 19, coinciding with the Easter weekend.
The launch event was attended by several notable names from the film industry including actors Babu Antony, Johnny Antony, Major Ravi, Neena Kurup, Sheelu Abraham, Arun Kumar, Ved Sunil, Adam Ayub, Ansar Kalabhavan, Janani Satyajith, and Govind Narayan. Also present were filmmakers Kannan Thamarakkulam and Sarjulan, music directors Jerry Amaldev and Ronnie Raphael, lyricist Santosh Varma, production controller NM Badusha, and theater owner Ragam Sunil.
Produced under the banners of Chitraveda Reels and JKR Films, the film is jointly produced by Bindu Sunil and Jayanthkumar Amruteswari. Cake Story marks the directorial comeback of Sunil, known for hits like Maanathe Kottaram, Alanchery Thambrakkal, Vrudhanmare Sookshikkuka, and Priyappetta Kukku.
The film features Ved Sunil, daughter of director Sunil, in the lead role. Ved, who has worked with her father as an assistant director and editor, has also written the screenplay for Cake Story, marking her debut as a screenwriter. She is also an author, having penned a book titled Panthrandu Maniyum Pathinettu Vayassum.
Actor Ashokan plays another key role in the film. The ensemble cast also includes Kottayam Ramesh, Mallika Sukumaran, Saju Kodiyan, Dinesh Panicker, Dominic, TS Saji, Ashin, Jithu, Gokul, Sangeetha Kingsley, Janani Saji, Amritha Jayanth, Sindhu Jayanth, and Vidya Vishwanath.
Adding an international flavor, the movie also features five foreign actors from the USA, Serbia, California, and Moscow. Notably, popular Tamil actor Redin Kingsley makes his Malayalam film debut with a full-length role in Cake Story.
Behind the scenes, the film’s cinematography is handled by RH Ashok and Pradeep Nair. Music is composed by legends Jerry Amaldev and SP Venkitesh. The film is edited by MS Ayyappan Nair, with production design by NM Badusha. Lyrics are written by Vinayak Sasikumar and Santosh Varma.
Other key crew members include Chief Associate Director Gibi Maal, art director Sajeesh Thamarassery, costume designer Arun Manohar, makeup artists Kalamandalam Vaishakh and Siju Krishna, associate director Nidheesh Iritty, and PR handled by Athira Diljith.
The film is expected to be a unique mix of entertainment and storytelling, and is generating buzz ahead of its release.
