Narpala, Andhra Pradesh: In a heartwarming example of community participation and social responsibility, childhood friends T. N. Kishore and A. G. Anil Kumar, Founder of Discover Ananthapuram, joined hands to improve the learning environment for students of MJP BC Welfare Residential School for Girls, Narpala by donating classroom furniture for 120 girl students.
The furniture was formally handed over during the school’s Mega Parents-Teachers Meeting, where A. G. Anil Kumar and AGS Foundation representative A. G. Prameelamma presented the desks and benches to the school. Until now, many students had been studying while seated on the floor. With the new furniture in place, the girls will now have a comfortable and dignified classroom environment that is more conducive to learning.
The initiative received an overwhelming response from students, parents, teachers, and school staff. The girls expressed immense excitement and happiness as they occupied their new desks, while parents and teachers conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to the donors for their thoughtful contribution.
Speaking on the occasion, A. G. Anil Kumar said, “In a country of 1.4 billion people, it is unrealistic to expect the government alone to address every need. Citizens must come forward and contribute towards nation-building because it is our children’s future that is at stake. Investing in the education of the girl child is one of the most meaningful contributions society can make.”
He further highlighted that Discover Ananthapuram and AGS Foundation have been working continuously with the school for the past four years, supporting its development through several initiatives. These include strengthening the school library, establishing and upgrading the computer laboratory, enhancing the science laboratory, providing school furniture, donating laptops, and creating a greener, more vibrant campus.
One of the most unique initiatives undertaken at the school was transforming it into a “Home for Birds” by installing numerous man-made bird nests across the campus. The initiative has successfully attracted hundreds of sparrows, with more than 400 sparrows being born on the school premises, making it a remarkable example of integrating environmental conservation with education.
The organisers said the latest contribution reflects how responsible citizens can complement government efforts in improving public education infrastructure. They expressed hope that more individuals and organisations would come forward to support government schools, ensuring that every child—especially every girl—has access to a safe, comfortable, and inspiring learning environment.
The event concluded with students, parents, and teachers applauding the generosity of T. N. Kishore, Discover Ananthapuram, and AGS Foundation, describing the initiative as an inspiring example of how friendship, compassion, and collective responsibility can create lasting change in society.
