Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], January 15: Dr. Kranthiraj Thatikonda, an accomplished entrepreneur and student in the Indian School of Business (ISB) PGPpro program, alongside his co-founder, Sarayu Gugulothu, has been chosen to compete in the prestigious TigerLaunch Regional Finals on the 18th Jan. This globally renowned entrepreneurship competition, hosted by Princeton University, will take place in Singapore and showcases innovative startups from around the world.
The duo’s startup, MakeMyMeat, outshined more than 400 global applicants, earning a place among the finalists for its transformative vision of revolutionizing the meat supply chain. Their focus on affordability, quality, and efficiency aims to address challenges faced by businesses and consumers alike.
Transforming the Meat Industry: The Vision Behind MakeMyMeat
MakeMyMeat is on a mission to redefine meat sourcing and supply. Identifying the inefficiencies plaguing the industry, the co-founders set out to tackle key issues: inconsistent quality, unreliable delivery, and unaffordable pricing. Their solution brings significant benefits to two key segments:
- For Businesses (B2B): Reliable bulk supply of high-quality meat at 10–15% lower costs, ensuring consistency and efficient logistics.
- For Consumers (D2C): Affordable, fresh, and hygienically packaged meat priced 30–40% less than competitors, delivered directly via an easy-to-use mobile app.
“Our approach addresses the full spectrum of supply chain inefficiencies while benefiting both the farmer and the end consumer,” explained Dr. Kranthiraj Thatikonda, who brings over 15 years of entrepreneurial and medical management experience to the venture.
The Team Behind the Success
Sarayu Gugulothu, co-founder and head of operations and marketing at MakeMyMeat, plays a pivotal role in driving the startup’s success. A BBA graduate and IT professional specializing in Azure-based projects, she has worked relentlessly from the startup’s inception, leading key marketing initiatives, securing B2B clients, and establishing operational excellence.
Sarayu reflected on the journey:
“Our goal is to make high-quality meat accessible to everyone. With a farmer-first procurement model and a seamless customer experience, we are transforming the industry step by step. TigerLaunch is an opportunity for us to take this vision to the global stage.”
Market Opportunity: A Massive Growth Potential
The meat industry in India represents a significant market. In Hyderabad alone, the annual B2B meat supply market is valued at over ₹20,000 crore ($2.4 billion). The startup plans to capture 1% of this market in its first year, which translates to a daily supply of 800 orders at an average value of S$430 (~₹25,000).
With a technology-driven, farm-to-fork model and a commitment to operational efficiency, MakeMyMeat is projecting gross revenue of $10 million (₹83 crore/~S$13.6 million) in Year 1, aiming for rapid national expansion by Year 2.
